I visited two coffee houses tonight and had a completely different experience at each. First I stopped at Big E's Sweets and Gourmet Coffee for Poetry Night. I didn't find any poetry but I did find a comfortable coffee house. It felt much more like someones living room than a restaurant. It had a couple of chess boards setup, plenty of reading material, ranging from The Tao of Pooh to The Devil Wears Prada and some very comfortable couches. I also fell into an interesting conversation about parapsychology and Annuit Coeptis. A gentlemen tried to explain to me why it was important that I know that Annuit Coeptis was written on the U.S. Dollar bill. I completely failed to grasp what he was trying to say, mostly because he kept answering my questions with other questions. Maybe I'll get a better explanation next time I stop by.
After that I headed over to Metro Coffee & Wine. A very nice coffee and wine bar that I've visited many times. This time Al Fuller was playing some blues. It was a great way to end the night, listening to blues and drinking my glass of wine. I have to thank the ladies over at Sarasota After Dark for this evening. If it wasn't for their website I wouldn't have gone looking for poetry or known that blues were playing.
